These tasty peaches of the May Crest, Spring Crest, June Gold, Dixired, Red Haven, Maria Bianca, Sun Cloud, Flavor Crest, Sun Crest, J. H. Hale, Honey Dew Hale, Naoussa Late, and Loring varieties grow in the Greek region of Central Macedonia. Even though these peach varieties originated in China, the excellent weather and soil conditions combined with systematic cultivation made them adapt quickly to the Mediterranean, and they quickly became one of the most popular fruits in Greece.

They are harvested when ripe and immediately inspected and packed to retain their freshness. Due to their rich aroma and sweet taste, they are highly sought after by consumers both in Greece and beyond, especially in the markets of Europe and the Arabian Peninsula, where they are sold from the end of May to the end of October.

This variety of mandarins is among the most aromatic in the world. Even when they are unripe, the persistence of their aroma will make anyone love them at the first bite. Amazingly, their aroma escapes the citrus groves, taking over the entire island, making Chios known both in Greece and abroad as 'Myrovolos' – the fragrant island.

Primitivo is an Italian grape variety with quite interesting origins. Research conducted in 1994 proved that the grape is identical to Californian Zinfandel, while it was later discovered that both grapes originated from an old and obscure Croatian grape Crljenak Kaštelanski.

Despite the same lineage, these grapes are influenced by their terroir, and they can slightly differ in character. In Italy, Primitivo is mostly cultivated in Apulia, where it is used in the appellation Primitivo di Manduria. Primitivo is a somewhat rustic wine, dark, intense, and rich in tannins that tend to mellow with age.

Jabuticaba are traditional Brazilian berries native to the states of Minas Gerais, Goiás, and São Paolo. The berries are dark purple in color with a thick skin and they grow on tree trunks. Jabuticaba berries have a very short shelf life and begin to ferment 3 to 4 days after being picked, and the jabuticaba tree takes between 6 and 8 years to ear fruit, which is why these berries are so prized.

They also contain antioxidants, calcium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, and vitamins C and E. The flavors are a combination of sweet and acidic. People usually enjoy them fresh and eaten out of hand, but the berries are also often made into jellies, juices, and jams.

TasteAtlas food rankings are based on the ratings of the TasteAtlas audience, with a series of mechanisms that recognize real users and that ignore bot, nationalist or local patriotic ratings, and give additional value to the ratings of users that the system recognizes as knowledgeable. For the “Top 100 Fruits (Types and Products) in the World” list until April 28, 2025, 11,322 ratings were recorded, of which 6,798 were recognized by the system as legitimate. TasteAtlas Rankings should not be seen as the final global conclusion about food. Their purpose is to promote excellent local foods, instill pride in traditional dishes, and arouse curiosity about dishes you haven’t tried.
