Fourth Degree

Fourth Degree is a vintage cocktail that is similar to a Martini. It is a combination of equal parts gin, sweet vermouth, and dry vermouth, with the addition of absinthe. To make the cocktail, all the ingredients are added to a mixing glass with ice, and the combination is mixed until chilled before it is s strained into a chilled cocktail glass.

The recipe for this cocktail first appeared in Harry McElhone’s ABC of Mixing Cocktails, published in 1922, London.
