Hanky-Panky

Hanky-Panky is a popular cocktail made with a combination of gin, sweet vermouth, and Fernet Branca – a bitter Italian liqueur with a blend of botanicals such as chamomile, cardamom, rhubarb, and saffron. To prepare it, all ingredients are stirred with ice in a mixing glass, then strained into a chilled cocktail glass.

The cocktail is garnished by squeezing an orange peel over the surface of the drink. It is believed that Hanky-Panky was invented in 1925 by Ada Coleman, who was the first female head bartender at the American Bar in The Savoy. The recipe for this cocktail was included in Harry Craddock’s The Savoy Cocktail Book.
