Dubonnet is a classic English cocktail characterized by its mild bitterness and complex flavors. It is made with a combination of dry gin (the finest one you can find) and Dubonnet. In order to prepare it, the ingredients should simply be combined, well stirred, then strained into a chilled cocktail glass.
Although it was originally served without garnishes, nowadays it is recommended to garnish it with a lemon twist. It is believed that the first version of this cocktail appeared around 1914, when it was described in Jacques Straub’s book called Drinks.
