Mickey Slim

Mickey Slim is an American cocktail that was originally (1940s, 1950s) made with a combination of gin and, allegedly, DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane) – a banned insecticide. Over time, DDT was replaced with absinthe. In order to prepare the absinthe version, gin and absinthe are poured into an old-fashioned glass.

A slotted spoon with a sugar cube is placed on top of the glass, and cold water is then poured over the sugar cube in order for it to dissolve in the liquors. The cocktail is typically garnished with a lemon or lime wedge.
