Champagne Cocktail

This elegant cocktail is made with champagne, cognac, Angostura bitters, and a sugar cube. To prepare it, a sugar cube is soaked in Angostura bitters and is then placed in a champagne flute. The combination is then topped with cognac and chilled champagne, while the whole cocktail is typically garnished with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry.

The earliest written reference for Champagne Cocktail can be found in Jerry Thomas’ Bon Vivant’s Companion from 1862.
