Fog Cutter | Local Cocktail From Oakland, United States of America | TasteAtlas

Fog Cutter

Fog Cutter is a tiki cocktail that combines rum, gin, brandy, orange and lemon juice, orgeat, and sherry. The cocktail has several interpretations that differ in the ratio, brandy variety, and the type of sherry. To prepare it, all the ingredients except sherry are shaken with ice.

The combination is then strained into an ice-filled glass. Finally, sherry is poured and allowed to float on top. This cocktail was created by Victor "Trader Vic" Bergeron. It was published in his legendary Bartender's Guide from 1947, and the revised version from 1972.

This cocktail is traditionally served in specialized Fog Cutter ceramic mugs created by Trader Vic, but it can also be served in a regular Collins glass. It is usually garnished with a mint sprig.
