Sericaia

(Sericá)

Sericaia, also known as sericá, is a traditional dessert from the Alentejo region. It is a cross between a pudding and sponge cake, unique for its cracked surface, which is achieved by baking it in a wide, shallow ceramic dish. The batter is made from eggs, sugar, milk, flour, cinnamon, lemon, and salt.

It is often served dusted with cinnamon and with a dollop of plum preserve made with Elvas plums.
