Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet | Local Wine Appellation From Chassagne-Montrachet, France | TasteAtlas

Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet

Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet is a French appellation that is known as one of the top locations for Chardonnay-based white wines. Since the region is small and the production is limited, these exceptional white wines are expensive and usually difficult to find.

They are complex, powerful, and incredibly aromatic. On the palate, they are soft and round. Acidity may be prominent in their youth, while the finish is always long and aromatic. These wines age exceptionally well and should be aged for a minimum of five years, though some vintages can be kept for decades.

They open with subtle herbal and floral aromas, followed by rich buttery nuances and notes of spices, dried fruit, and honey. These wines can match similar elegant and sophisticated dishes. They would pair well with crustaceans, caviar, creamy sauces, foie gras, poultry, and veal.
