Charmes-Chambertin is a French appellation and a grand cru vineyard located in Côte de Nuits wine region of Burgundy. It is known for slightly softer, mellower, and more delicate expressions of Pinot Noir than other Chambertin appellations.
Charmes-Chambertin wines usually display aromas of black fruit, cherries, and licorice that with age may develop into notes of musk and wood. Their fine tannins make them a perfect match to hearty dishes such as stews, grilled or roasted beef or lamb, terrines, game meat, and strong-flavored cheese varieties.
