Bianchello | Local Wine Variety From Marche, Italy | TasteAtlas

Bianchello

Bianchello or Biancame is a native Italian grape mainly cultivated in Marche. The grape produces easy-drinking and approachable fresh white wines. The origin of Biancame is probably ancient, and the grape is known under various synonyms.

Apart from Marche, it is cultivated in Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, and Sicily. Bianchello is used in varietals and blends, and its most important appellation is Bianchello del Metauro. Varietal examples are straw yellow with fruity and floral notes, reminiscent of apples, peaches, and white flowers.

They have good acidity and sometimes hints of spice. These wines are best enjoyed young, and they are best paired with fish, shellfish, crustaceans, and fresh cheese.
