Volailles du Maine

Volailles du Maine (farm chicken and turkey) is poultry of excellent quality with no surplus of fat. With excellent quality of the meat come strict quality controls, so there can be 11 chickens or 6 turkeys at most per one square meter.


The meat from these animals is tender and succulent, and the products can be sold either fresh or frozen, whole as an oven-ready meal or cut in sections. Chickens and Turkeys from the basin of the river Maine are reared in the open air and are fed on a diet that is mostly cereal-based.


As the cultivation of wheat was prominent in the 15th and 16th century, it encouraged the local farmers to start producing the high-quality poultry that we have today.
