Volailles de la Drôme is pure or crossbred poultry reared in the Drôme region in France since the late 19th century. The animals are reared in the open air and feed on a cereal-based diet, they consist of chickens, guinea fowl, ducks, turkeys, capons, poulardes and geese.
They are slaughtered when they are at the age close to their sexual maturity. Their flesh is firm and juicy, possessing excellent organoleptic characteristics and the meat can be sold either fresh, frozen, as an oven-ready meal or in cut pieces. The skin is less bitter than in other, standardly reared poultry and the taste is delicate and juicy.
