Summer Banana apples

Summer Banana is an American apple variety dating back to the late 19th century and originating from Marion County, South Carolina. The apples are medium in size and round, with a deep yellow skin that’ sblushed with red and pink stripes.

Beneath it, the texture of the flesh is crisp, fine-grained, and very often aromatic, with some people claiming that the aromas are stronger than those of a banana. However, the aromas are more intense when these apples are grown in warmer climates.

Summer Banana apples ripen in late summer to early fall and it’s recommended to use them in desserts or frying. Unfortunately, their shelf life is very poor.
