Rattlesnake

Rattlesnake is a classic American cocktail that is essentially a twist on the popular Whiskey Sour. It is made with a combination of whiskey, lemon juice, simple sugar syrup, absinthe, and egg whites. In order to prepare it, all ingredients should be vigorously shaken with ice until the liquid becomes frothy.

The combination is then strained into a chilled cocktail glass and served. Rattlesnake first appeared in Harry Craddock’s 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book, where he claims that it will "either cure a rattlesnake bite, or kill rattlesnakes, or make you see them."
