Alabama Slammer | Local Cocktail From Alabama, United States of America | TasteAtlas

Alabama Slammer

Alabama Slammer is an American cocktail made with a combination of amaretto, sloe gin, Southern Comfort, and orange juice. The ingredients are shaken with ice, then strained into a highball glass filled with fresh ice. The cocktail is typically garnished with an orange wheel and a cherry.

It is believed that Alabama Slammer originated at the University of Alabama, and it was a huge hit at the bars in the 1970s and the 1980s. Originally, the drink was served as a shot, with substantially less orange juice, but over time it morphed into a long drink.
