Welsh pig is white with lop ears, a thick curly tail, and fine, straight hair. This domestic breed of pig is characterized by a long and pear-shaped body with well-developed firm hams and lean, broad set legs. Thought to be related to an old, native Welsh white lop-eared breed, the pig is prized for its hardiness that makes it suitable for rearing both indoors and outdoors.
Sows make great mothers and typically reach a weight of about 150-200 kg when mature, while mature boars usually weigh 250 kg. The flesh obtained from this breed is succulent with a characteristic porky flavor and excellent proportions of meat and fat, yielding good-quality pork and bacon.
