Cereza del Jerte

(Picota del Jerte)

Cereza del Jerte are Spanish fresh cherries of the local Navalinda, Ambrunés, Pico Limón Negro, Pico Negro and Pico Colorado varieties. These cherries, prized for their flavor and superior quality, are grown in the north of the province of Cáceres, in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura.

They are smaller than other cherries, full of flavor, sweet, crisp and deep dark red. Cereza del Jerte are traditionally hand-picked at the moment of optimal ripeness and are stored in brown wooden baskets. They are sold during July and August.
