Varenga is a traditional meat dish originating from Madagascar. It's made with a combination of beef, salt, garlic, and sliced white onions. The beef is cut into chunks, seasoned with salt, then placed into a pot with the onions, garlic, and water.
The dish is slowly simmered until the meat becomes tender and starts to fall apart. The beef is then shredded, layered into a baking dish, and covered with some of the cooking liquid before it's roasted until crispy and browned. Varenga is usually served with white rice and hot sauce on the side.
