Originating from Emiglia-Romana, torta degli addobbi is one of the region's most beloved desserts. It's a rich rice pudding that's flavored with oranges and almonds, baked and topped with a glaze of almond liqueur. This rice pudding or rice cake is made with milk, sugar, lemon zest, rice, lemon peel, almonds, eggs, rum, and almond liqueur.
The name of this dessert refers to festa degli addobbi, a religious festival in Bologna that takes place in late spring (the word addobbare means to decorate). After the cake is done, it's left to cool before being cut into bite-sized diamond shapes.
