Duruka, tebu telur, or pitpit (lat. Saccharum edule), is a perennial plant that typically grows in wet, damp soil and tropical environments. It is a tall, grass-like plant that belongs to the sugarcane species.
The edible part is the flower, which stays unopened, neatly covered in outer sheaths and later turns into a thick mass. It can be grilled, but it is typically incorporated in various soups and curry-like dishes or simply cooked in coconut milk. Although it is traditionally associated with Fiji, it is also used in traditional Malaysian and New Guinean cuisine.
