New Season Comber Potatoes | Local Potato From County Down, Northern Ireland | TasteAtlas

New Season Comber Potatoes

These immature, early potatoes must be planted, grown and harvested in the area of Comber. They are small, round or oval, and their skin is smooth, soft and delicate. On the interior they have white cream colored body and their flavor is distinctively sweet, nutty and earthy.

The soil on which Comber earlies are grown consists of light, free draining sandstone and gravel soil, allowing it to dry quick and heat faster than other Northern Ireland soil. Their skin is highly nutritious and shouldn't be peeled.
