Tocană de ciuperci

Tocană de ciuperci is a traditional mushroom stew. The mushrooms, onions, and garlic are first sautéed, and then cooked with water or vegetable broth. Optional ingredients include white wine, tomato paste, and sweet paprika. The stew is often combined with heavy cream or a mixture of milk and cornstarch for added consistency.


Sprinkled with parsley, dill or chives on top, this mushroom stew is eaten while still hot, usually with hot mămăligă or rice on the side.
