Tipperary is a classic cocktail that combines Irish whiskey, sweet vermouth, and green Chartreuse. The cocktail was featured in several time-honored cocktail books, including Hugo Ensslin's Recipes for Mixed Drinks (1916) and Harry Craddock's Savoy Cocktail Book (1930).
In Ensslin's version, the recipe is made with equal parts and shake and strain method, though most contemporary versions (including IBA) increase the amount of whiskey. To make the drink, all the ingredients are mixed with ice in a mixing glass. When chilled, the combination is strained into glasses.
