Originating from the Croatian city of Prelog, klecinprot is a traditional Christmas sweet bread enriched with fruits. A selection of dried fruits is soaked in rum or rakija (schnapps) for about one week. During that period, the fruits are stirred daily.
On Christmas Eve or the day before it, people prepare the dough for the bread, which will later be enriched with alcohol-soaked dried fruits. The sweet bread is baked in the oven until golden brown, when it is ready to be served on numerous festive Christmas tables in the region.
