"If you want to try the typical Hungarian sweet, the chimney cake, this is the highest quality despite the touristy location (Vaci utca). It is always made to order."

"Once the cake is cooked it stands upright, releasing steam resembling a chimney. One of the best places to try it is in Budapest, at Molnár’s Kürtőskalács Bakery."

"Molnár’s: This is where you need to go for your classic chimney cake."

"Chimney cakes: A common sweeet treat, kürtőskalács are made by wrapping dough around a baking spit, basted with butter and dusted with sugar, which caramelises as it cooks. The result? A sweet, delicious and dangerously moreish pastry that will satisfy any sweet tooth. I recommend picking one up at Molnár’s Kürtőskalács – you can grab a coffee to go with it as well."

"We tested the cinnamon ones, and we just dipped it fresh on the spot. The dough is something quite brilliant. The texture of the dough is airy enough, which is slightly sweet in itself. The whole Kürtőskalács is noticeably sweet, but they have found the ideal balance."

"They're called Kürtőskalács and if you want to taste some really good (and cheap) ones I strongly suggest Molnár's."

"When I was in Budapest I tried this delicacy at different places, and I can ensure you that the ones they make at Molnár’s Café are hands down the best in town."

"We then moved onto a well known Hungarian dessert – chimney cake (or kürtőskalács) which are breaded chimney looking cakes which are covered in sugar and baked and then covered again in an array of toppings including cinnamon or chocolate. D and I decided to get one each and then go halfseys at Molnar’s Kurtoskalacs. They were great! Bready by still sweet and the service was impeccable."

"We knew we wanted to try the famous ‘Kürtőskalács’, and although there are many places you could get one, we ended up in Molnár’s, and we were not disappointed! We had one with sugar and one with cinnamon, but we would’ve sat there trying all the different flavours all day if we could! We’re not sure if it was because the cafe was good, or because the dessert as a treat is just so tasty, but you should definitely give it a go."

"While you can pick up one of these classics at any number of stalls dotted throughout Budapest, the iconic cake at Molnar’s is served with a number of twists. The typical sugar or cinnamon coating is ditched in favour of chocolate or walnuts. There is even an option to fill it with ice cream, an unusual, but novel way of enjoying the dessert."

"They were cripsy and fluffy in the inside. Great taste and the ice cream on the side was pretty good."
