Kraljevski pljukanci

Kraljevski pljukanci is a specialty dish from the Croatian region of Istria. It consists of pljukanci pasta, olive oil, Istrian truffles, salt, and butter. The dough is made with a combination of flour, eggs, salt, and water. Tiny pieces of dough are rolled between two hands in order to shape it into pljukanci.

The pasta is cooked in boiling salted water, then drizzled with olive oil and topped with grated or finely chopped Istrian truffles which have previously been fried on butter. Ideally, the dish is topped with grated sheep’s cheese and served in a decorative basket made with grated parmesan cheese.
