Giostra d'Alcol is one of the classic Italian aperitif cocktails. It is a simple combination of red Barbera d'Asti wine, Campari, and Cedrata—citron-flavored sparkling soda produced in Brescia, Lombardy. The cocktail is made by adding ice cubes to a rocks glass.
Wine and Campari are added next, and the drink is topped with Cedrata. The cocktail is usually garnished with an orange slice. This vintage cocktail has an intriguing name that translates as carousel of alcohol. It was invented by Enrico Prampolini, an Italian futurist painter, sculptor, and scenographer, and was first presented at Paris Colonial Exhibition in 1931.
