About Sir Hans Sloane

Sir Hans Sloane was a physician and collector from London who significantly influenced the use of chocolate in England. In the late 1600s and early 1700s, Sloane traveled to Jamaica where he encountered cocoa. He developed a recipe mixing cocoa with milk, which he found both delicious and beneficial for health.

This recipe eventually inspired the production of milk chocolate. Additionally, Sloane's collection of items, including his chocolate recipe, contributed to the foundation of the British Museum.
