Le Ver de Bancoule

Le ver de bancoule or the bancoule worm is a somewhat unusual specialty of New Caledonia. Both bancoule worm and its mutated insect form are edible; in fact, the consumption of these worms is celebrated every year. They are typically fried with pastis and butter, although they can also be eaten cooked or raw with grated coconut.
