Emerald (cocktail)

Emerald is a whiskey-based cocktail that is often classified as a slightly altered version of the classic Manhattan. The cocktail combines Irish whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters. To make the cocktail, the ingredients are stirred in a mixing glass with ice.

The combination is then strained into a chilled glass. This cocktail is usually served in a coupe, and it is often garnished with an orange twist. As evident from the list of ingredients and the name (Emerald is a colloquial name used for Ireland), this cocktail was thoroughly inspired by Ireland.

It is often associated with St Patrick's Day. Not much is known about its origin, but it is assumed that it might date to the pre-prohibition era.
