Cour-Cheverny is a French appellation located in the Loire that produces excellent white wines from Romorantin, a somewhat obscure French grape cultivated only in this region. These lively white wines have a distinctive mineral backbone, but their final character can vary from dry and zesty to off-dry.
Their color may range from yellow to golden, and they usually display apple, appear, or acacia aromas. Cour-Cheverny wines can be enjoyed young, but they also age quite well, developing citrusy, waxy, and honey-like notes. Young wines would pair well with appetizers, charcuterie, seafood, and asparagus, while aged styles can be a good match with lobster or foie gras.
