The 2021 Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc from Pessac-Léognan is a distinguished white Bordeaux blend, predominantly composed of Sauvignon Blanc, complemented by Sémillon and Sauvignon Gris. This vintage showcases a pale yellow hue with greenish reflections, indicating its freshness and vibrancy.
On the nose, it reveals an intricate bouquet of quince, white pear, mango, and nectarine, intertwined with subtle notes of white tea, licorice, mandarin peel, and lemongrass. These aromas are underscored by a distinct minerality reminiscent of pumice stone, contributing to its complexity.
Château Smith Haut Lafitte, located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation of Bordeaux, France, boasts a rich history dating back to 1365 when its initial vineyards were established by Verrier Du Boscq. In the 18th century, Scottish wine merchant George Smith acquired the estate, lending his name to the property and constructing the manor house that still stands today.
The château produces both red and white Grand Vin wines, recognized for their elegance, complexity, and aging potential. The red wines typically feature a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, while the whites are primarily composed of Sauvignon Blanc.
