Alcañón is a rare Spanish white grape native to Somontano, Aragon. The grape was often mistaken for Macabeo, and it was once on the verge of extinction. Although it is now more common, it is still cultivated on a smaller scale.
The grape is used in varietals and blends, and it is included in the Somontano appellation. Alcañón wines are light, fresh, and aromatic. They usually have citrus and green apple aroma, sometimes with a hint of white fruit and spices.
