Westlandse druif are grapes produced in the Westland, in South Holland and have a special, aromatic and sweet taste. They are so popular in the area that during grape season, one can even find a special 'grape menu' in restaurants. As the delicate Westland grapes are grown exclusively in glasshouses, they were the first products to be grown in them around 1850, when the first glasshouses were built. At first, the glasshouses consisted of a brick wall and the rest of the walls were made of glass, but it was not until 1900 that glasshouses consisted entirely of glass walls.
