Tullum

(Terre Tollesi)

Tullum is one of the smallest Italian wine regions. It is located in Tollo municipality, in Chieti, Abruzzo. The region was officially recognized in 2008, initially as a DOC, but in 2019 it was promoted to the DOCG status, which is the highest level in the Italian appellation system.

Tullum includes red and white wines. Red Tullum is the flagship label. These wines are made from the Montepulciano variety (minimum 95 %). These ruby red wines tend to turn garnet with age. They have a fruity aroma, reminiscent of cherries, plums, and blackberries, often with some jammy notes.

Spicy, vanilla, and tobacco notes are usually present in oak-aged examples. On the palate, they are tannic and rounded. Tullum wines are well structured and can usually age well. They are best served with complex first courses, pork, or red meat
