Tsikla Chiou is a type of chewing gum made from Masticha Chiou mastic tree resin, softeners and sugar. It is produced on the northern Aegean island of Chios, specifically in 24 towns of the Mastichochoria region known as the 'mastic villages'.
It is solid, white to light yellow in color and has a strong flavor of mastic. This chewing gum was first produced in 1957, and since then it has become one of the most popular products from the island of Chios. Unlike ordinary chewing gum, it causes greater production of saliva because of its specific taste.
