South African lobster (lat. Jasus lalandii) is a lobster species found in the waters off the coast of South Africa and Namibia, from Saldanha Bay southward around the coast to Durban.
It inhabits rocky bottoms and prefers cold Atlantic Ocean currents, making the West Coast of South Africa an ideal habitat. South African lobster is a spiny lobster, meaning it lacks the large claws associated with cold-water lobsters from the Northern Hemisphere.
