Roussette du Bugey | Local Wine Appellation From Ain, France | TasteAtlas

Roussette du Bugey

Roussette du Bugey is a French appellation located in eastern France. All the wines produced in the region are made with the native Altesse variety (also known as Roussette). The wines from the basic appellation are straw-colored, lively, refreshing, and floral.

Most examples should be enjoyed young. The appellation is a home to two cru vineyards, Montagnieu and Virieu-le-Grand. Wines from Montagnieu are slightly darker and more complex. They have a floral and fruity aroma and mineral character. Virieu-le-grand wines will have better aging potential and an aroma reminiscent of dried and candied fruit.

These wines go well with local specialties, fish, and cheese.
