Romanée-Saint-Vivant | Local Wine Appellation From Vosne-Romanée, France | TasteAtlas

Romanée-Saint-Vivant

Romanée-Saint-Vivant is a French appellation located in Côte de Nuits (Côte-d’Or) region of Burgundy. Often described as feminine, these Pinot Noir based wines tend to be more delicate and less powerful than other Vosne-Romanée appellations.

They still have enough body and well-structured tannins, as well as the fruity notes of cherries and raspberries that are often complemented by floral nuances of roses and violets. Their texture is smooth, round, and silky, while the best expressions will often display notes of spices, truffle, leather, fur, and underbrush.

Romanée-Saint-Vivant is typically aged for at least ten years, while some varieties can be kept for up to thirty or more years. They are a perfect match to roasted and braised game or beef, and soft cheese varieties.
