Recantina is a red grape variety from around Treviso in Veneto that's been around since the 1600s and has three subtypes: the Recantina pecolo rosso (red-stalked recantina), the Recantina pecolo scuro (green-stalked recantina), and the Recantina Forner.
The grape has been nearly extinct, but in recent years it's seen a revival thanks to its exceptional properties. Wines made with this grape are typically deep ruby with a purple hue, full-bodied, with a bitter taste, and well-structured. Additionally, wines produced from the Recantina grape are typically well-perfumed with notes of blackberry and violet.
