Miami Vice

Miami Vice is a cocktail that is best described as a fusion of Strawberry Daiquiri and Piña Colada. The drink originated in Miami—hence the name—and it was mostly enjoyed in nightclubs and beach bars. The cocktail is still popular in Miami, but it was at its peak during the 1980s and '90s.

To prepare the Miami Vice, two different cocktails have to be made. First, Piña Colada, made with rum, pineapple juice, coconut milk, and coconut cream. Then, Strawberry Daiquiri, which is made with rum, strawberries (preferably fresh strawberries), and fresh lime juice.

When the cocktails are blended with ice, they are assembled in a hurricane glass. It is sometimes garnished with a pineapple slice and comes served with a straw. Although many believe that this cocktail was named after a popular TV show, the more likely option is that the drink probably existed before the show appeared.
