Macunaíma

Macunaíma is a Brasilian cachaça-based cocktail. Along with cachaça as the signature Brazilian spirit, the cocktail combines lime juice, simple syrup, and Fernet, the Italian-style bitter amaro that became very popular in Brazil.

Among the Fernet group, Fernet Branca is the most popular brand. Macunaíma is prepared by adding all the ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. The mix is then strained into an old-fashioned glass with no ice. This cocktail hails from São Paulo.
