Lessona | Local Wine Appellation From Province of Biella, Italy | TasteAtlas

Lessona

Lessona is a small wine region in the Italian Piedmont that produces wine based on Nebbiolo grapes, with the only permitted addition of Uva Rara (Bonarda) and Vespolina. Aromatic and balanced Lessona wines typically display floral aromas of violets, dry flowers, and red berries, as well as subtle notes of spices.

The wines must be aged for a minimum of 22 months, including 12 months in oak. Because of their firm tannins and bright acidity, they pair well with roasted or braised beef and game, pasta dishes with rich ragù sauces, stews, polenta, and aged cheese varieties.
