DropWorks Rum Distillery

DropWorks is a British rum distillery located in Welbeck, Nottinghamshire, in the heart of England. Founded by Louis Hayes, the company is dedicated to crafting premium, modern British rum, aiming to prove that high-quality rum made in Britain can be accessible to everyone.

The distillery spans 17,000 square feet of production space, with an additional 8,000 square feet of barrel warehouse and a three-mile underground tunnel for barrel storage. This setup allows for extended and consistent aging in three distinct environments.

The facility has the capacity to produce up to two million bottles of rum annually and distill up to ten barrels daily. DropWorks uses the finest molasses and its proprietary "Trinity Yeast," a triple-strain yeast exclusive to their products. The fermentation process lasts between four and seven days, followed by distillation in custom copper stills, including a double retort pot still—the first of its kind in England.

After distillation, the rum is aged in a variety of barrels, including hybrid American and Portuguese oak casks, which contribute to the unique flavor profile of their products. In addition to production, DropWorks offers distillery tours, providing visitors with an insight into their rum-making process and the opportunity to taste their products.
