"You must eat these while they are hot – to savour the sweet, delicately spicy broth which did remind me of the chilli crab gravy (though in a much lighter way), matched with generous fillings of crab meat sitting within thin, skill-fully pleated skin."
"The skins are unfailingly delicate and lightly stretchy. Crystal Jade’s version is round, puffy and colourful! What’s more, you’re guaranteed to be served dumplings that were only steamed just before serving. This freshness shows in their flavor and texture."
"The very long noodles have a nice "bite" with a subtle hint of sweetness. The beef broth was very tasty and had just the right amount of saltiness. I also loved that it wasn't too oily unlike other beef noodle soups that I've tried. The beef slices though very flavorful and mostly tender had some parts that were a bit chewy. The green onions added texture and enhanced the flavor of the tasty soup."
"The delicate thin skin of the Xiao Long Bao held the balanced mixture of pork and soup without bursting. The subtle broth was cooked for 6 hours and melded perfectly with the meat for an exquisite taste with the right proportion and thickness."
"You can taste the rich pork broth inside the dumpling. I love that the skin was light but doesn't easily get punctured. The combination of textures, the smooth and soft dumpling skin plus the tender and chunky pork meat, feels like heaven on my mouth."
"Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao are the locally inspired Chilli Crab Xiao Long Bao and Hainanese Chicken Rice Xiao Long Bao, which are my favourites out of the lot. The vibrant red and off-white colours of the pairings struck the patriotic chord instantly, even before I tried it."
"What made this hairy crab experience especially memorable was the Chilled Hairy Crab with Chinese Wine. Every bite was repleting with the heady aroma of the wine and sweet burst of crustacean freshness. Superb!"
"Dan dan noodles were awesome. Good noodles, nice spicy/nutty kick."
"One thing I liked about Crystal Jade’s Xiao Long Bao is that it's freshly made. It’s still piping hot and the dough is thinner and softer in texture compared to Din Tai Fung."
"We were pleasantly delighted at how the unique combination of ginseng and the savoury broth in the Xiao Long Bao gave rise to a soothing and harmonious gastronomic experience. The balance was just right, neither too mild nor overwhelming. This was definitely our favourite."
