Chonggak

(Chonggakmu, 총각무, 總角-, Ponytail Radish, Chonggak Radish)

Chonggak or chonggakmu is a type of white radish originating from Korea. The radishes are small, with fine and curvy-bulbous roots. The leaves and stems are both used in Korean cuisine, mostly for the preparation of a kimchi version called chonggak-kimchi, but the radishes are also sometimes used to prepared dongchimi, a kimchi variety that's somewhat soupy in consistency.

Chonggak radishes resemble the shape of hornlike double topknots used in coming of age ceremonies, and that's why chonggak is sometimes called ponytail radish.
