(Perec)

Vrtanek is a traditional festive bread that was usually prepared and served at various feasts and at the end of the harvest season. It is made with wheat flour, and the dough is braided and wrapped in a large decorative wreath. The bread is usually associated with Prekmurje region, where it is also known as perec.
