Te Awanga Estate is a family-owned winery located on the eastern coast of New Zealand's North Island, in the renowned Hawke's Bay wine region. Established in 2006, the winery is dedicated to producing premium wines that reflect the unique terroir of the area.
The main vineyard of Te Awanga Estate is situated on an elevated site at the foot of Te Awanga Hill, overlooking 17 hectares of vines, the Te Awanga Basin, and the Pacific Ocean. This vineyard is characterized by shallow volcanic soils over deep gravel layers, providing ideal conditions for crafting wines rich in flavor.
The coastal climate, with sea breezes and mild temperatures, promotes slow ripening of the grapes, enhancing the aromas and flavors in both red and white wines. This diversity allows the winery to showcase the richness of the Hawke's Bay terroir through a variety of styles and grape varieties.
