An American classic and a favorite childhood treat, s’mores evoke memories of camping and long summer nights around a campfire. Made with only three ingredients — graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows, this dessert is surprisingly easy to make. Marshmallows are roasted on sticks over hot coals or open flame, rotating until they become light brown on the outside and gooey on the inside. Alternatively, marshmallows can be baked in the oven as well. Then, a sweet sandwich is assembled in the following order — a graham cracker is topped with chocolate, which is followed by a hot marshmallow and another graham cracker. Hot marshmallows will cause the chocolate to melt, making s’mores ready for consumption. Two close relatives to s’mores are Mallomars — a graham cracker cookie topped with marshmallow and covered with chocolate, and the MoonPie — two round graham crackers with a marshmallow filling in between, also chocolate coated.
